Kishwaukee Park Launch Field

Kishwaukee Park
Kishwaukee Park – Model Rocket Launch Site

THIS SITE IS A PUBLIC SOCCER COMPLEX, OWNED AND OPERATED BY THE CITY OF WOODSTOCK. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FIELD OTHER THAN AT SCHEDULED EVENTS.

  • Kishwaukee Park is a complex of 7 soccer fields, limited technically to G motors or smaller, depending on conditions. It is a fine model rocket launch site!
  • High power rockets (HPR) cannot be flown at this site under any conditions.
  • Nothing can be staked into the ground due to an underground irrigation system.
  • The field is bounded to the east by a bank of trees, and to the west by an impassible swamp. Plan your flights accordingly.
  • Pick up any and all trash.

Thanks to John Kohler for arranging for the use of this field.

Hughes Seed Farm Launch Field

Hughes Seed Farm
Hughes Seed Farm – HPR Launch Site

THIS SITE IS AN ACTIVE, WORKING FARM ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FIELD OTHER THAN AT SCHEDULED EVENTS.

  • Hughes Seed Farm is a large, open field approximately a mile square, easily capable of flying “G” motors and above.
  • We have an FAA waiver to launch high power rockets (HPR) up to 6,000 feet above ground level (6,000 AGL).
  • We have an 8 foot long 1010 rail and Quad Pad available for HPR models.
  • All high power rocket models are subject to a detailed safety inspection prior to launch.
  • We support NAR High Power Level 1 and Level 2 certifications at this site.
  • The farm is bisected by a gravel road, which can only be used when it is dry and free of water. Otherwise, we park on either Dimmel or Hughes Roads.
  • If we use the gravel driveway, park on the grass strip next to the gravel.
  • Pick up any and all trash.
  • Apologies, but we do not have an HPR motor vendor attending our launches.

Thanks to John Kohler for arranging for the use of this field!
