About Us

Welcome to the Fox Valley Rocketeers NAR Section #683, FVR for short. Who and what are we?

  • We are a group of model rocketeers in the Fox Valley suburbs of Northern Illinois outside Chicago; our membership is roughly centered in McHenry and Lake County, but we have members all over Chicagoland.
  • We have members of all ages and experience levels.
  • We like to help each other have more fun and learn more about model and high power rockets.
  • We are dedicated to spending 99% of our rocketry time building, flying and talking about all kinds of model and high power rockets (no boring business meetings!).
  • We fly from April through November, and then switch to indoor activities including building sessions and field trips during December through March.
  • Our launches occur on either the second Saturday or Sunday of each month, April through November. We rotate our flying fields as dictated by crop plantings.
  • Our meetings are the first Monday of each month, 7:30 PM via Google Meet. We show models we’re working on, have an occasional talk about a member project or idea, and generally have fun talking about rockets.
  • We fly under the safety codes of the National Association of Rocketry. Launch safety comes first at FVR.

If you’re interested in rocketry, we have a home for you! Come join us!
