July 2008 Launch

Raintree park was a bit wet and the wind was a bit stiff for our July 2008 launch, but we had a decent turnout anyway.  I count 40 flights, 4 problems. (2 chute issues, 1 CATO, 1 Lawn Dart).  The biggest motor flown was a D12-3, although considering it was flown in a saucer style rocket, that was most likely not the highest flight.  Nobody lost a rocket at this launch.  The most popular motor of the day...you guessed it: B6-4!  A total of 16 of the Raintree special were flown on Saturday.  And another 10 of the motors started with "B".  Looking at the records, only 1 cluster and 1 two-stage were flown - weather and field size limited those.   Bob took a number of photos for us, I've got them here:

James launches his SPEV, which unfortunately broke a fin on landing.

May 2008 Launch

Our May 2008 launch had a pretty good turnout and great flying conditions. Savannah captured some WMV VIDEO. Just a few things to be aware of: 1) the file is 15Mb. 2) this is the first rocket video Vannah has made so it it is a bit shaky and 3)this is my first work with the editing software. Expect improvements on future offerings.

James Kalemis has also posted some excellent photos of our May launch on his Photo Site. Thanks again James! By the way, James has a lot of other photography on his site that may be of interest to others, including other rocket launches, nature, astronomy, etc. Here is the Home Page.

Also be sure to also check out Rick Gaff's photos of the May launch on his Photo Site. Thanks!

April 2008 Launch

James Kalemis has posted photos of our April 2008 launch on his Photo Site. Thanks James!

Prior Launches

Rick Gaff has added photos of our July, September, and November 2007 rocket launches on his Photo Site. He has many pictures from other rocketry related events as well, including our January 2008 building session. Many thinks Rick!

Our very own Ed Chess got his Level 1 certification early in 2007. He sent these launch photos from his March 18th Level 1 certification flight. His comments are:

Sorry I missed the building session. I looked at the sky on Sunday, checked the wind and temp, and decided to head to Bong, where Woosh was launching. I successfully flew my HPR L1 certification flight under the watchful eye of Scott Goebbels. Mark Cymerman was there and took some fine pictures and posted them at his website, http://www.coolrocketry.com, under the Gallery heading, March 18 Please take a peek. You'll recognize Scott and me at the pad with the stubby LOC IV with the Black Brant II paint job. Mark got a spectacular shot of the launch, full flame, just off the pad. This was the last opportunity to fly at Bong until May, and I just couldn't pass up the chance to get this done.

See you all next month in Woodstock.

Once again Jeff Hallett provides images and commentary from the FVR launch, This time the November 12th launch at the farm. Click on the thumbnail to view the larger image, and use the browser back button to return here.

I found some photos of the Model of the Month from Sept 2006. Check them out on my Flickr page. Also look at the manufacturer's meeting photos from October 21, after the hobby show. Thanks go out to Mark and Barb for hosting this. Photos are on my Flickr page as well.

Rick Gaff has added many photos from the various rocket events he has participated in this summer including NARAM, the Straight A regional and the August FVR launch. Excellent photos and videos! Many thinks Rick!

Jeff sent these photos from the August 13th launch at Raintree Park. If anyone else has photos, please send them to me or send me a link if they are on one of the photo sharing websites. And as always, thanks Jeff! Use your browser's "BACK" button to return to this page after clicking on the thumbnail to view the larger image.)

Rick Gaff was at the June 11th launch and took pictures like a man on a mission. Here is the link to his online collection of 144 photos. Way cool! Thanks Rick!

Belated as it is, here are a few pictures from the May launch. Thanks to Jeff for sending us a picture of his daughter Savannah recovering her rocket. I only have a few pictures to add. (Use your browser's "BACK" button to return to this page after clicking on the thumbnail to view the larger image.)

I think Ken used the John Deere color scheme in honor of the first launch at the farm - surely those aren't Packer colors!

Here are some photos from the very first FVR launch! If anyone has more photos, please send them to me and I'll add them, with credit of course. I know you are out there, I saw digital cameras! If you can identify one of these rockets or pictures, again let me know please. (Use your browser's "BACK" button to return to this page after clicking on the thumbnail to view the larger image.)

Rachel gets the honor of launching the first FVR flight

We had a pretty good turnout considering the weather

If we know what it is, is it still a UFO?

One of Bob's many food container rockets. This was a little too light for the winds

bob launches an egg lofter loaded with small foil wrapped chocolate eggs. Hey, at least they didn't break!

Jeff readies his Baby Bertha Bash for a single stage flight

Jeff's Baby Bertha lifts off

Jeff was 'convinced' that flying a two stage rocket in the wind was a good idea

And we have lift-off, the Baby-Baby-Bertha-Bertha lifts off. And was recovered safely on the field!
