Upcoming Launch Info

Our next launch will take place at Raintree Park in Woodstock. The launch will be on Saturday, September 13 starting at 1pm. Raintree is our current summer launch field. It is a small motor field only - "D" is the largest that this field can take. My advice is to bring lots of the trusty B6-4. We had a lot of fun, despite the wind and water at our July launch at this field. Newcomers are always welcome.

Marengo Launch Field

In the spring and fall, when the crops are not an issue, the Stephens family is kind enough to let us schedule launches at their Farm.  The field is large enough to accommodate "G" motors, and we flew several there during the 2007 season and again in early 2008.  Of course, all smaller motors are also enjoyed and make up the bulk of the flights.

Raintree Park Field

In the summer, we fly from Raintree Park in Woodstock.   This park provides a nice flat field for flying the smaller rocket motors.  The field is large enough to fly up to "D" motors safely, but be warned, there are many trees that surround the park.  Smaller motors and streamer recovery is the best bet here.

Launch Etiquette

Many club members bring their launch equipment to our launches.  At any given launch, there are usually four or more launch pads available.  We are a pretty friendly bunch, and a newcomer can expect us to share - after a brief instruction on how to use the equipment in question.  We have a Range Safety Officer (RSO) at each launch.  It is the RSO's role to "check-in" each rocket before flight and ensure that conditions exist for a safe flight.  Please listen to and follow any instructions given by the RSO.  Remember, also, that safety is everyone's job.  You know your rocket best - if you have any reason to believe it will not deliver a safe flight - then fix it or don't fly it.  You don't need to be a Fox Valley Rocketeer to fly at our launches.
