Welcome to the Fox Valley Rocketeers, a group of model rocketeers in the Fox Valley suburbs of Northern Illinois. Our membership is roughly centered in McHenry and Lake County but we have flyers from all over Chicagoland.
Our meetings and launches are free and open to the public.
Launches: We fly from April through November at two launch sites near Woodstock, IL. Due to the pandemic, you will need to bring your own launch equipment to the field.. From December to March, we host building sessions and take field trips to places of interest.

Saturday, March 23 Launch – CANCELLED
Due to Friday’s snowstorm, and Saturday’s expected 19 degree wind chill, our Saturday, March 23 launch has been cancelled. We hope to kick off our 2024 launch season next Saturday, March 30, at our Davis Road launch site.
Sunday, March 17 Launch CANCELLED
Due to wet field conditions and forecast weather (38 deg, 16-25 MPH winds). Sunday’s launch has been cancelled. Next launch will be Saturday, March 23, 9-1, at the Davis Road launch site.
January 6 Building Session Cancelled
The City of Woodstock Public Library is undergoing renovations. Our room reservation for our planned Saturday, January 6 building session has been cancelled. We’re looking for other locations, but as of now, we will not be having a building session in January.
Sunday, November 5 Launch is GO!
We are go to launch at the Hughes Farm launch site on Sunday, 12:00 noon to 4:30 pm. The waiver will be activated and HPR flights are available up to 6,000 AGL.
WET FIELD PROTOCOL IS IN EFFECT. DO NOT USE THE GRAVEL ROAD . THE OWNER WILL CONSIDER DISCONTINUING OUR USE OF THIS FIELD IF ANYONE USES THE GRAVEL ROAD.
ALSO, THERE’S A POSSIBILITY THAT THERE WILL BE WORK GOING ON AT THE FARM. PLEASE ADJUST YOUR FLYING ACCORDINGLY.
We will be flying from the west side of the field (Dimmel Road). Please park in the grassy area next to Dimmel Road.

We are go to launch at the Hughes Farm launch site on Sunday, 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. The waiver will be activated and HPR flights are available up to 6,000 AGL.
WET FIELD PROTOCOL IS IN EFFECT. DO NOT USE THE GRAVEL ROAD AS IT IS EXTREMELY ROUGH AND WET. THE OWNER WILL CONSIDER DISCONTINUING OUR USE OF THIS FIELD IF ANYONE USES THE GRAVEL ROAD.
We will be flying from the west side of the field (Dimmel Road). Weather forecast is “Abundant sunshine. High near 55F. Winds light and variable.”
